Talons is an exciting diversification for Hendra Farm – an owl conservation and education centre that does things a little differently!
We would like to give you the chance to share in our passion for owls, spend a memorable hour (or two!) handling and learning about them, there’s even a chance to fly one, and perhaps meet the baby owls in the Spring. Our owl experience days in Cornwall are unique! Spend as much time as you want with each owl, photograph them to your heart’s content, and even enjoy an owl tea party, in a relaxed and informal atmosphere! (There’s no extra charge for the tea and biscuits either!). Ever wanted to fly an owl? Now here’s your chance!
We have several different breeds on display, either as breeding pairs, or our ever-popular gang of hand reared, super tame birds – Neva, Norman and Nero the Snowy owls, Bilbo and Bubbles the Eagle owls, Fidget and Figgy the Wood owls, Squeak the Screech owl and Biscuit, Bracket and Peek the Barn owls. There will be lots more arriving each season, so there will always be new ones to see and meet.
During the breeding season there will also be young owls to see, either with their parents, or some of the ones that we hand rear each year.
We have a covered area for days when the weather is being unkind which means that we are able to offer the owl handling all year round. Our owl experience in Cornwall makes a perfect gift for any occasion – you can purchase gift vouchers here.
We are zoo licensed, fully insured and DBS checked.
Our owl experience visits in Cornwall are strictly by prior booking only. We have no minimum numbers of people who can book to visit – we just want everyone to enjoy their visit to the full. We aren’t a big posh tourist attraction, so there’s no on site cafe or restaurant (though copious mugs of tea and coffee, and biscuits will be on offer!), no children’s play ground or fancy loos (but the one we do have is very clean)!!
We are able to bring owls out to you for all sorts of events. parties, home visits, schools and special occasions. Take a look at our Animal Encounters page or email or phone for more details.
